5th Regensburg Workshop on Quantum Heterostructures and Terahertz Electronics

The research in the terahertz range of the electromagnetic spectrum presents a hot topic of modern physics holding great promise for progress in diverse fields like solid state physics, astrophysics, plasma physics and others as well as having a wide applications potential in medicine, chemistry, environment monitoring, security, spectroscopy of different kinds of materials. Investigations are focussed on the relatively unexplored frequency range sandwiched between visible light and microwaves.

On Jan 24 the fifth international workshop “Quantum Heterostructures and Terahertz Electronics” takes place at the University of Regensburg, room PHY 5.0.21, Physics Departement. Prominent scientist from Germany, Austria, Swiss, Italy, United Kingdom and Russia will present the recent results of their workgroups. The topics cover a wide range of THz research comprising THz spectroscopy, THz quantum cascade lasers, Bloch oscillations and detection of THz radiation. This workshop is organized by Profs. S.D. Ganichev and K.F. Renk in the framework of the recently established Terahertz Center and the Graduiertenkolleg at Physics Departement. More detailed information can be obtained in the secretary’s office (Ulla.Turba@physik.uni-regensburg.de).
